SAND is a Marie Sklodowska Curie Innovative Training Network proposal directly addressing the need for high-level training and career paths to address the challenges of elucidating the crosstalk of autophagy and secretion and their role in neurodegeneration. Cell Stress Discoveries is part of SAND with a project “Modulation of Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) proteostasis in neurodegenerative diseases and its impact on secretion and autophagy.”

CSD is hosting an early-stage researcher whose role is to develop and test new drugs capable of selectively modulating the ER stress signaling pathways, particular the IRE1 pathway, and in this way to modulate adaptive signaling pathways.
